The Widow: An absolutely unputdownable and gripping psychological thriller | K.L. Slater
4 posts | 6 read
My husband was not a monster. No matter what they say The day my husband, Michael, stepped in front of a lorry after being questioned by the police, my world fell apart. He was devoted to me and our six-year-old daughter. But theyd connected him to the disappearance of a young mother from our tiny village. Now I stand at Michaels funeral, clutching my little girls hand, with tears in my eyes as I insist to all our friends that he died an innocent man. Yet the questions have started, and nothing I say will stop them digging for the truth. But none of them can read the secrets in my heart, or know about the phone I found hidden in his toolbox Im determined that my daughter will not remember her father as a monster. I will erase any hint of wrongdoing in this house whatever the cost. Because to keep my daughter safe, the last thing I need is for people to start looking at me A completely gripping psychological thriller from the author of the number one bestseller The Marriage. Good, not great, but solid. The is my 2nd book from KL Slater and I find it about on par with Shari LaPena. Solid plot, twists, atmosphere. But, wow, is no one likable 😂

Kate Shaw has a steady life with her husband & child until she befriends Susie, a single mom who is new to town. She becomes suspicious of her husband‘s involvement with Susie. Then Susie goes missing and her seemingly perfect life starts to unravel.

Kept me guessing!

For non-UK readers, there‘s a real place in England called Nottingham. There are some small villages around it and, my word the goings on! Disappearances, infidelities, accidents, murders: all kinds of mysteries! It must be quite a place to live.

At one point some of the characters go to a more northern town called Chesterfield. That‘s real too. No murders there in this book though.

I enjoyed reading this but I‘m a bit scared of Nottingham now.

TrishB Don‘t say that- my daughter is at uni there 😁 2y
Peterfox123 @TrishB My daughter went to the theatre college there for three years and came away unscathed! 😁 2y
