Though this book isn't what I expected when it was pitched as a 'zombie' novel, I was surprisingly impressed. The zombies are used as metaphors and the story is more of a contemporary romance rather than supernatural. Though this book was a debut novel, it read so poetically and reminded me of Tahereh Mafi's work. The plot was simple and I enjoyed the artistic references (though I had to Google some). The ending was beautiful.
Gorgeous cover for a gorgeous book 😍 I thought this was very original so it's hard to compare it to any one thing, but it reminded me of John Green's Turtles All the Way Down, Black Swan, and the Perks of being a Wallflower, with some zombies and Van Gogh art thrown in 🤪🧟♂️ this is a book about grief, loss, anxiety, love, heartbreak, and I highly recommend it to all YA readers. Happy to review this in exchange for the ARC from Netgalley 🤗
