pickMy last book of 2022 had been Coffee Days Whiskey Nights by Cyrus Parker and it was a rather perfect one to end on. It pretty much exemplifies my 2022. For me, it works as a collection though most of the individual poems don't necessarily stand out on their own. It sometimes feels like one long poem broken into digestible bites. It's definitely a book to commiserate on confusing times with.
I saw this coffee shop in the city yesterday and just had to pop in. I had recently finished the tagged book and couldn't help myself. I got a bourbon cider. It felt fitting.

I love the back and forth between hope and despair in this collection.
I just started this beautiful new poetry collection by Cyrus Parker. It's been a journey but I'm really trying to start reading and writing more poetry. As with Watering the Soul, this title just got me. Coffee Days, Whiskey Nights. Sounds like someone who feels the way I feel lately, you know? I mean, I'm personally not a huge whiskey fan but it's a feeling and I have it. And always coffee. Some days require more than others, but always coffee.
