I love a romance with a wallflower and a rake, and I really love how this book played with that dynamic. Maryann Fitzwilliam is the wallflower, who pretends the rake, Nicolas St. Ives, has ruined her. She's hoping that this ruining will allow her to deflect a terrible suitor and then take control of her own life. Unfortunately, her ruining is, well, ruined, when she finds she quite likes Nicholas and he finds himself falling for her as well.
