4 posts | 4 read
Second in a new series set in Alaska from beloved cozy author Paige Shelton, Cold Wind will chill your bones. Beth Rivers is still in Alaska. The unidentified man who kidnapped her in her home of St. Louis hasnt been found yet, so shes not ready to go back. But as October comes to a close, Benedict is feeling more and more like her new home. Beth has been working on herself: Shes managed to get back to writing, and shes enjoying these beautiful months between summer and winter in Alaska. Then, everything in Benedict changes after a mudslide exposes a world that had been hidden for years. Two mud-covered, silent girls appear, and a secret trappers house is found in the woods. The biggest surprise, though, is a dead and frozen womans body in the trappers shed. No one knows who she is, but the man who runs the mercantile, Randy, seems to be in the middle of all the mysteries. Unable to escape her journalistic roots, Beth is determined to answer the questions that keep arising: Are the mysterious girls and the frozen body connected? Can Randy possibly be involved? Andmost importantlycan she solve this mystery before the cold wind sweeping over the town and the townspeople descends for good?

This is book 2 in the series following Beth Rivers as she hides out in Alaska. On this go around, two girls appear but won‘t speak, and soon thereafter a woman‘s body is found. Most of the book is satisfying, but I found the end a little weak.

There‘s something about winter-set mysteries in December, although I am getting my cold from Talenti Peppermint Bark Gelato with Magic Shell 😉 I was just going to read a few more chapters & ended up finishing my #ARC of this 2nd book in the Alaska Wilds Mysteries. After several months Thriller author Beth is settling into her hiding place in Benedict, hiding from the man that held her captive. A woman‘s body is found in a shed & two young girls⬇️

DebinHawaii ... ...show up at her doorstep. Are they related, & are they related to a recent mudslide? Beth wants to help the local sherif find out. Love the characters, the setting & all the twists that kept me guessing. Looking forward to the next book. 👍📚 3y

I lifted the curtain flap. Twilight was one of my new favorite things; an extended time here in my new neighborhood in Alaska before and after real sunrise and sunset.
