Because, while one person eliminating all their waste is great, if thousands of people do 20 percent better it will have a much bigger impact on the planet. The good news is you likely already have all the tools you need to begin to create your own change at home, especially in the kitchen. In her debut book, Bonneau gives readers the facts to motivate them to do better, the simple (and usually free) fixes to ease them into wasting less--you can, for example, banish plastic wrap by simply inverting a plate over your leftovers--and, finally, the recipes and strategies to turn them into more sustainable, money-saving cooks. Rescue a loaf from the landfill by making Mexican Hot Chocolate Bread Pudding, or revive some sad greens to make a pesto. Save five bucks (and the plastic tub) at the supermarket with Yes Whey, You Can Make Ricotta Cheese, then use the cheese in a galette and the leftover whey to make sourdough tortillas. This book is a combination zero-waste manual and cookbook. I‘ve read most of the first part before (on the author‘s blog and Instagram) but I still liked it. I appreciate how she puts a big emphasis on making small changes, not that you have to overhaul everything at once. Somehow this book is what finally inspired me to get a composter! I didn‘t get a chance to really try the recipes but there are several that really intrigue me. (Continued…)

Clare-Dragonfly I got this from the library but I think I‘ll have to buy a copy so I can try all those recipes! The sourdough pizza and sourdough discard brownies are at the top of my list. 😋 3y

I wanted to make this Swiss chard recipe. But then I found that I had no chard, so I chose kale. I ended up basically following this recipe but also cooking the kale in the exact same way I always cook kale 😆 It is yummy! I still need to try it with chard. Hopefully we‘ll get more chard in next week‘s CSA share and I can do that.

I‘ve been making apple scrap vinegar (this recipe, along with many others, is available on zerowastechef.com) for a couple of years now, saving the cores from the apples my family and I eat. We love apples! 🍎😋

#libraryhaul! First of all, my library is now open for regular hold pickups instead of having to schedule a contactless pickup, which is really cool 😁 Second of all, the Zero-Waste Chef got me into sourdough baking before it was cool, so I‘m excited to read her book!
