Before I Saw You: The delightful and emotional love-story of 2021 | Emily Houghton
6 posts | 10 read | 4 to read
CAN YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN? Alice and Alfie are strangers. But they sleep next to each other every night. Alfie Mack has been in hospital for months recovering from an accident. A new face on the ward is about as exciting as life gets for him right now, so when someone moves into the bed next to him he's eager to make friends. But it quickly becomes clear that seeing his neighbour's face won't happen any time soon. Alice Gunnersley has been badly burned and can't even look at herself yet, let alone allow anyone else to see her. Keeping the curtain around her bed firmly closed, it doesn't stop Alfie trying to get to know her. And gradually, as he slowly brings Alice out of her shell, might there even be potential for more? ___ Readers are falling in love with Before I Saw You: ***** 'One of the must-reads of 2021! It is beautifully written with characters that have such great depth' ***** 'My heart was full of emotion. The characters were so believable and I was completely absorbed' ***** 'A really intense and original romance, that is so well crafted and paced that it leaves you yearning for more.'

Mehso-so

The first one hundred or so pages got me choked up several times. I loved seeing Alfie and Alice bond and relished in the blossoming friendship. I did eventually lose my groove with the story, though.

Alice and Alfie spend months in the hospital with only a curtain between them. Both having been involved in accidents. They make a great connection without ever seeing each other.

Such a feel-good book, loved it. Taking place in modern day London, Alfie and Alice are two strangers who have both suffered life-altering injuries. In the rehab ward, they end up as next-door neighbors with only a curtain separating them...a curtain that Alice won‘t allow to be opened. This is a story about facing life‘s challenges/curves, finding solace through connection, and becoming even stronger on the other side of despair. Wonderful 🔻

robinb cast of characters and Alfie and Alice are simply inspiring. Great humor too.
Recommend. 4.5/5⭐️

This was an honest and heart-wrenching story which has left me wanting to know what happens next. Alice and Alfie have burrowed into my heart and their individual accidents and recoveries were depicted with painful accuracy. The hospital scenes and procedures were well written and the whole book was a joy to read. #NetGalley
