The Midnight Club
The Midnight Club | James Patterson
A stunningly brilliant psychopathic killer who has skillfully eluded the police from London to Paris to New York. A beautiful woman journalist suddenly in grave danger. An unorthodox New York detective whose motive for stopping the killer couldn't be more personal or emotional. Bestselling author James Patterson weaves a suspenseful tale of a powerful mobster who runs up against a very determined cop and his faithful crime fighters.

This one wasn't bad, but you can tell the difference of his writing in 1989 compared to his books today

Awful. Stefanovitch is put in a wheelchair by a crimelord who then kills his wife. 2 years later he's still working as a cop. Patterson tells us he's struggling but he barely thinks about his ex, akways suceeds and is still able to win a shoot out against 2 guys and chase a 3rd down a street with 2 bullet wounds and kill him. Add to this a ludicrous twist with barely an explanation and you've got a farce of book with flat unbelievable characters.

The story itself is quite interesting. Makes me picturing scenes in James Bond movie on my head.

Maybe because I read it in Indonesian version, some translations feel odd. Honestly, three quarter of this book just tortured me because of that. But overall I gave it 3.5/5 🌟

Got given a bunch of books by a colleague at work. Not normally the kind of books I'd read but I'll give at least one or two a try. Might try a James Patterson book. Anyone read any?

LazyLibrary I read my grandmothers copy of the midnight club, it was okay! Not my usual genres either! Sometimes I pretend I'm 13 again at the library, back when I just picked random books to read before the internet existed ha! 7y
myers85 @LazyLibrary Haha yeah it was nice to pick a random book and read it without reading online reviews first! I've been looking at my bookshelves to see any books I could give my colleague in return but realised I love all the books I've kept too much to part with them! 7y

#somethingforsept #septphotochallenge #scarybooks Back in the day, when I was a young reader, before I took the leap to Literary Fiction, I was a huge thriller/suspense fan. And James Patterson pretty much ruled my reading! His books were so disturbing...totally creeped me out💀 I haven't read his books in years, but I'm sure he's still the master of Yuch😱😱😱

BookishFeminist I agree! I haven't read too much Patterson but lord is his serial killer character creepy. 💀🔪 8y
