I love this series & this installment had SO MUCH. Character development for Catalina, Alessandro, plot, “science”, the laws the Houses operate under, her relationship with her family all gets fleshed out beautifullyyyyyy.
I can‘t wait to see how (if) everything gets tied up in the next book 📚

It took me a few chapters to get back into this story. Once I did, I was hooked again. The reader learns a lot more about Alessandro in this book. I am finally able to understand what makes him tick. I think he and Catalina together would be near unstoppable. Great storyline with plenty of action and the world building is excellent. 4⭐️

Squeezed in one last September read. This second book in the second trilogy cleared up some of the weird bits from the first, made good headway in character development and romantic progression, and had a weird storyline that was mostly tangential to said development. Definitely ready for the next one! First finish of #20in4

There is a lot of action to keep track of in this book. It is a good escape. I am very fond of the characters, especially both grandmothers.

How can I wait until August for the next book?!?!?! I want more Catalina, Alessandro, Nevada and Rogan and the rest of the crew. This series is so good and I can‘t wait to read more.

Catalina is heartbroken that Alessandro left her, but she‘s got things to do as head of her house and a deputy. There‘s something in The Pit and people using illegal magic are doing things that could destroy the world. It was a fast paced good time!

robinb I need to get back to this series. I love Ilona Andrews! 2y
Lauren_reading @robinb I tried to slow down reading it, but just couldn‘t stop! 2y
robinb @Lauren_reading I‘m always that way with their books too! 😊👍 2y

Ilona Andrews always hits it out of the park for me. Loved this book! The strong family loyalty and love, along with their wonderful dynamics, makes me want to keep reading about the Baylors and their magic-filled world.

robinb Love them! Also behind here...I‘ve read the first three...need to catch up! The story of my life...🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
ScientistSam @robinb a good problem to have, though! 3y

We went into BN today to pick up kiddo‘s preorder (that they forgot to cal us about - good thing I obsessively follow certain release dates) and I had to get the new Ilona Andrews book. I haven‘t read the previous one because I want to binge them, but that may change soon. The rest of this #bookhaul, um, followed me home? Also, I hate the new Lemoncello covers. 😡

Also did grocery pick-up - this is how I do hurricane prep.

LibrarianRyan I too hate the new Lemoncello covers but I also hate both the new Sal and Gabi covers. 4y

The Ilona Andrews author team is probably my most instabuy author because I love everything of theirs that I've read. I enjoy this world in which a mysterious serum has created inherited magical powers in the populace. This is the second book in the second arc of the series focusing on Catalina Baylor and I can't wait to see how the arc ends for her.

I made the mistake of starting this ARC an hour ago instead of going to bed. How can I resist a new Ilona Andrews?! It's so good! Peri would rather we go to sleep.
