In "the most suspenseful book I read all year" (Stephen King), a psychologist faces off against a killer who destroys his victims from the inside out. Joe O'Loughlin is in familiar territory-standing on a bridge high above a flooded gorge, trying to stop a distraught woman from jumping. "You don't understand," she whispers, and lets go. Joe is haunted by his failure to save the woman, until her teenage daughter finds him and reveals that her mother would never have committed suicide-not like that. She was terrified of heights. What could have driven her to commit such a desperate act? Whose voice? What evil? Having devoted his career to repairing damaged minds, Joe must now confront an adversary who tears them apart. With pitch-perfect dialogue, believable characters, and astonishingly unpredictable plot twists, Shatter is guaranteed to keep even the most avid thriller readers riveted long into the night.

A sadistic murderer preys on his victim‘s biggest fears. How&why he chooses to kill women by targeting their children is what forensic psychologist Joe O‘Loughlin tries to find out with the help of retired detective Ruiz&the police. The story unfolds alternating between O‘Loughlin‘s&the killer‘s view. Some characters are a bit one-dimensional,but Joe,who has Parkinson‘s,is very likeable, the writing style is good, witty, the story gripping.Loved it

Now this was a really great book. I think it was a storyline that any parent can relate to. There was suspense throughout and enough gotcha moments to keep the reader‘s interest. I was aggravated throughout with Julianne‘s (Joseph‘s wife) attitude. She seemed very selfish when it came to Joe‘s work. Anyway, I absolutely recommend this book. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

candc320 I‘ve not heard of this but it sounds really good! 9mo

deeannloso @candc320 It‘s a really great series. The second book in the series, Lost, is a bit slow but the rest of the series is great. I love the Joseph O‘Loughlin character. 9mo

This book was AMAZING! Michael Robotham absolutely kills it with this novel and I cannot wait to continue reading all of his other books. Like I mentioned previously, I'm typically not a huge fan of books in a series. (I find the writing can get a little sloppy) This is totally unique and brilliant in terms of plot and suspense. A serial killer than manipulates the mind and kills victims without physical contact? FANTASTIC. Cannot say enough good!

Josie Sounds great! Adding it to my TBR. Gorgeous picture! 8y
