1 post | 2 read | 1 to read
A biography of the First World War poet Julian Grenfell. It helps readers to understand why Julian and his generation seemed to want to die in battle. It also brings Edwardian society to life, as well as describes his relationship with his mother.

Mehso-so

This book was as much a biography of Julian's mother Ettie as it was of the soldier poet. I discovered I would have preferred it to have been first and foremost about Ettie, which would have also fitted better with Persephone's brand.
