The Rim of Morning
The Rim of Morning: Two Tales of Cosmic Horror | William Sloane
In the 1930s, William Sloane wrote two brilliant novels that gave a whole new meaning to cosmic horror. In To Walk the Night, Bark Jones and his college buddy Jerry Lister, a science whiz, head back to their alma mater to visit a cherished professor of astronomy. They discover his body, consumed by fire, in his laboratory, and an uncannily beautiful young widow in his house—but nothing compares to the revelation that Jerry and Bark encounter in the deserts of Arizona at the end of the book. In The Edge of Running Water, Julian Blair, a brilliant electrophysicist, has retired to a small town in remotest Maine after the death of his wife. His latest experiments threaten to shake up the town, not to mention the universe itself.

#TBRtemptation post 3! Published in the 1930s, these two novels changed the cosmic horror sub-genre. "To Walk the Night" follows 2 old college buddies as they head back to campus to visit a former astronomy prof. The revelation they'll receive will change everything. "The Edge of Running Water" follows a widowed electrophysicist in remote Maine conducting earth-shattering results. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?

Desha True...I've read that a high percentage of our communication comes from body language and not words...it's much different to say "I'm sorry you had a bad day" with true empathy versus saying "I'm sorry you had a bad day" with stinging sarcasm! Great quote choice!! ☺??? 7y

This book kept appearing in my path so I finally ordered it from NYRB. I think I'm going to have to save it for my annual October spooky reading bookathon.

CherylDeFranceschi Yay! I usually read witchy books all of October! 8y
