The Wish Giver | 
pickThis Newbery Award winning F novel book by Bill Brittain. Thaddeus Blinn who came into Coven Tree selling wishes when 4 individuals take the chance. Eventually 3 of the 4 individuals make a wish which does come true but doesn't meet their expectations. Ultimately they all learn a lesson from their wish. The book has a few illustrations that help the reader visualize what's occurring in the book. I think it'll make students think twice.
