pickI quite enjoyed the first book in Sutcliff‘s Roman Britain trilogy, The Eagle of the Ninth. (Although the Channing Tatum film version was pretty bad.) This is book two in the series, taking place a century after the first story. The plot line meanders and characters come and go. It reads like classic historical fiction though, and the details about Roman Britain are fascinating. The series is worth discovering.
