(2009) First in Rusch's "Diving Universe" series, featuring a character known only as "Boss," who "dives" into derelict spaceships for salvage. In this one she discovers a battleship from humans' distant past, together with working pieces of forgotten technology that really ought to stay forgotten. Lots to love here: space adventure, mysterious peril, and a David-and-Goliath conflict for the soul of humanity. I'll read more.
