All in all, l enjoyed the novel. I appreciated the fantasy setting, based in 1920s America, but with Human and Witches living side by side, although with a form of segregation and Prohibition on magic.

I was less fond of the romance. It started off nice, linked to the MC's grow, but it said down in the most obvious boundle od cliches.

Pity. Still enjoyable, though.

I would have panned this book, but the ending was satisfying. A comparable book to the Sookie Stackhouse novels, but not as well written. Im not sure this is worth the read, however. If the author spent as much time developing characters as she did writing 3 consecutive sex scenes, this book would have be great. If you want a decent noir mystery, skip this and listen to Rex Riveter: private eye. If you want a decent romance/mystery, stick to sookie

I‘m calling this book out right now. I bought this at an anime convention. For those who don‘t know, there an an anime called Yuuri on Ice. One of the central themes of that anime is defining the differences between Eros and Agape. It would be safe to know your audience and assume they know what Eros is. This was a really good book, but took a turn for the worst. I only have 60 pages left. I hope i can make it through them.

Estherhasredhair Yeah. It‘s just unfortunate that D. Lieber assumes her audience is stupid. But Yuuri on Ice really kept me going! 5y

This book is kinda frustrating me at the moment. It‘s been a delightful Mystery Thriller Romance novel, but has just taken an abrupt turn to being a sex novel. For three chapters in a row i have had to read about erections. I‘m an adult. I can handle sex. I actually do read books for the plot. Sex can be used as a plot device. This book is not being that tactful. Get back to the story. The romance will follow. this book is too short to waste time

Really enjoying this one. It's a quick read, with a nice, balanced mix of romance, mystery and fantasy.
I'm not a romance reader, but l like the mix here. All thread entiwens so that it isn't easy to separate one from the other.

I'm eager to discover both who Anna will end up with, who Jesse truly is and what will be Leo's fate.

The magic part sounds a lot like Harry Potter, but with an adult vibe... and set in the 1920s!

These are the books l'm reading now, together with Tolkien's The Treason of Isengard.
'Hazel and Holly' is nice and whimsical and l'm enjoying it, but it moves a bit slowly.
'In Search of a Witch's Soul' seem a Harry Potter for adults set in the 1920s. It's fun so far.

Started this on the train home. Sounds like fun.

1920s world where Prohibition is on magic. A women gumshoe on a messing person's track.
