The Earl in Black Armor | 
pickWell researched historical fiction based on real events, this is set in Ireland during the reign of Charles I. I didn't realise that this was a bridging novel between two books, but it wasn't that tricky to pick up. Some good characters, particularly Faolan who goes to work in Dublin Castle to spy on the Earl of Wentworth, this is an exciting romp of a novel.
