This is a historical fiction book set in San Francisco during the Great Depression and the building of the Golden Gate Bridge about a girl from an Irish-Catholic family who dreams of beings physician even though her parents want her to be a nun. A real mouthful I know, but also a stunningly under appreciated book. I felt with Willa as she went between lying to her parents and helping others. I just wish there was a sequel in Cara‘s perspective.5⭐️

Jenken1998 That is until she stumbles upon another career path that leaves her questioning her beliefs, values and own desires. Will Willa risk losing her family and everything she has ever known to follow her possible true calling? I enjoyed this quick read with well developed characters, bits of history and a satisfying ending. Thanks #netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Pub date November 2019 5y
