Hour 3 of #24B4Monday is all about research. Want to know what all I can do with the herbs on my balcony.

BeansPage That Scott Cunningham book is really awesome! He has an aromatherapy one as well. 👍😃👍 5y
julesG @TheReadingMermaid I've had the Cunningham for ages, but only today thought of checking it for certain herbs. Alas the index is not very specific on individual herbs. 5y

BeansPage What exactly are you looking to do? I'm sure I have a book on it or if not I can recommend one. I'd be happy to help. 5y
julesG @TheReadingMermaid Thanks for the offer. I was looking for information on uses of Lemon Balm other than tea. My plant is doing really well this year. 😉 But, I just learned that although Lemon Balm has many health benefits, people with an underactive thyroid should use it sparsely. That would be me. 😔 Anyway, I'll make a macerated oil that I can use topically and maybe an alcoholic infusion. 5y
BeansPage That would be my suggestion. I would also suggest using a diluting agent such as almond oil or olive oil in order to use it topically. you still get all the benefits but it is diluted to where it will not hurt you. 5y
Andrew65 A great use of the Readathon. 😊👍 5y
julesG @TheReadingMermaid That was the plan. I have several oils here, almond, olive, sunflower, rape seed - the kitchen oils; but also avocado and soy. I usually use soy for macerated oils but my skin is asking for almond. Will probably then blend/whip it with coconut oil and/or Shea butter - safety reasons, I could slip on oil drops on the bathroom floor. 😁 5y
