This was a rather enjoyable audiobook for traveling. There are two intertwined storylines - one from the 1800s and one present day. It was a little confusing to keep track of both sets of characters and stories at first, but once I started to figure out who‘s who, it was fun. Both storylines come into play in the present day murder mystery, but I didn‘t exactly figure out how until the final clues were being poured over.

I really don‘t like the switching back and forth between the 21st and 18th centuries, or the constant denigrating fat references (or the fixation on people‘s beauty or lack thereof.) 2nd DNF in a row for this series.

I have now read 24 books in the Mrs. Murphy series. I think there are 2-3 more and I will be current. I liked this one as it switched back and forth from the 1700‘s to present day (as she had in a previous book) to explain more fully the reason for the present day murder.

I wasn't a fan of this book. I've read Brown's other books & enjoyed them, but the writing in this one felt amateurish. I ended up skimming this book.
