Hard Light
Hard Light: A Cass Neary Crime Novel | Elizabeth Hand
4 posts | 6 read | 7 to read
"As her passionately devoted fans know, Elizabeth Hand is a uniquely gifted storyteller. Her iconoclastic series of crime novels which features offbeat photographer Cass Neary, began with the underground classic Generation Loss, and that was followed by the brilliant Available Dark. Katherine Dunne, author of Geek Love, describes Cass as "one of literature's great noir antiheroes," and comparisons to Stieg Larsson's Liz Salander abound. As the story opens, Cass arrives in London where she meets and is reunited with her long-lost lover, Quinn O'Boyle, who is wanted by both Interpol and the Russian mob. When Quinn then fails to show at their rendezvous point, Cass is fearful she'll be the next to disappear, and she goes on the run"--

The 3rd in the Cass Neary books. She is alone in London looking for Quinn when of course all hell breaks loose and she has somehow landed herself in the middle.

I just love the books about Cass Neary! They're well written and are really hard too put down once you've started reading. Hopefully there will be a fourth one...

Been meaning to post about this one, which I finished about a month ago. I love Liz Hand's Cass Neary series and Hard Light is a great addition. Fantastic gritty noir with a touch of punk rock history, wrapped around a spooky Celtic supernatural subplot. Start this series at the beginning, though!

I don't recommend finishing this one when you're home alone at night. So creepy, so great.

ColleenLindsay I loved this whole series! Finished Hard Light about a week ago; amazed at how much great worldbuilding Liz Hand does for a non-fantasy novel. So good! 8y
darthmoll @ColleenLindsay I wish a book in this series came out every year. 8y
