Since I am working on different shows right now, i asked my friends if I could see the final dress of this show. I have never seen any version of it before and am glad that this was the first one I got to see. Such an amazing script that lives in the grey of life.

Read this for my Film and Lit class, and my Poetry prof told us today when a classmate (who‘s also taking these two courses) brought it up that apparently, John Patrick Shanley told Philip Seymour Hoffman the truth about this story, and PSH never told anyone before he died. People who have read and/or seen it, what do you think?? Make sure to mark comments as spoilers 🤓 (also, isn‘t that a beautiful #bookmark from Green Hand Books?)

GrilledCheeseSamurai Never read the book but it's a heckuva movie! 6y
kgriffith @GrilledCheeseSamurai we watched it this morning — I had mixed feelings about it from a film studies perspective, but oof! Heavy hitting for sure. 6y

“It‘s the habit. It catches us up more often than not. What with our being in black and white, and so prone to falling, we‘re more like dominos than anything else.” Sister Aloysius got jokes 🤣

“Let me ask you. Have you ever held a position in an argument past the point of comfort?” What an interesting question. (35 minutes later and I‘ve just actually started reading. Oops.)

Even on vacation, the homework, it beckons.

jamie_in_the_library Very cool tattoo 😻 6y
kgriffith @jamie_in_the_library Hey thanks! It‘s @conceptDawg original art — he designed it as the logo for TinyCat (the LibraryThing catalog for tiny libraries) and I thought it was just the cutest damned thing. It joins my Cat love with my love for my job/company without being too overt about it. 😺 6y
Ubookquitous Is that the book that the movie was based on? 6y

kgriffith @Ubookquitous Yes. It‘s a VERY short play, ~50 pages, and we‘ve only been assigned the first 36. I‘m not reading ahead but it was hard to stop. 6y
Ubookquitous The movie was brilliant 6y
kgriffith @Ubookquitous Given the cast, I‘m sure! 6y
TommieMarie74 I wish my homework was that entertaining. Want to trade?? 😉 6y
kgriffith @TommieMarie74 ummmm probably not 😋 6y
leahbird AWESOME TinyCat tat! Super jealous! 6y
kgriffith @leahbird ? I love it so much. @conceptDawg is going to design a complementary coquí for me to get tattooed on the inside of my left ankle so they face one another. ?? #PuertoRicoStrong ? 6y

Picked up a few of the titles for my upcoming Literature & Film class from our wonderful sci-fi/fantasy/horror specialty indie, The Green Hand.

keggergoldy I read Different Seasons back when there was only one film adaption from that collection. 6y
kgriffith @keggergoldy I know we‘re doing Shawshank because of this other title from the book list, but I‘m not sure if others from the collection as well. 6y
keggergoldy @kgriffith I would be surprised if you did Apt Pupil. Nobody saw that film. Stand By Me, OTOH, is still a classic. 6y

kgriffith @keggergoldy I‘ve seen Apt Pupil, but not Stand By Me. 6y
keggergoldy ?!?! 6y
kgriffith @keggergoldy ...is that surprise at my having seen Apt Pupil, or a “put Stand By Me in the spreadsheet NOW”? 😉 6y
