A Gay and Lesbian Youth Services organization just donated 2 large boxes of books to my library and I am soooooo excited! They are all brand new! Here's the contents of just one box.

Really excited to read this book with my Leadership students this spring. Genuine characters who struggle with their differences and work to make their school a kinder place. Good place to start in showing how kids can be activists.

I love that the most ambitious, driven, and knowledgable character goes on to teach middle school social studies after getting three degrees. We need more depictions of K-8 teaching as an intellectual and worthy profession.

Reading The Misfits, which is my mentor text for the Leadership elective I'm starting next trimester, while waiting for the train to the SF Women's March. Platform is PACKED.

Fantastic middle grade story of four misfit students, friends for years, who decide to run for 7th grade student council against the popular kids. These four friends have suffered name calling throughout there school days and have decided enough is enough and begin their campaign to eliminate name calling at their school.
