While this is a great character-driven novel, I wish that the plot had been perhaps a little more complex... or that the epilogue had been set farther into the future. The characters are all more completely built and sympathetic, but I just wish that there had been more surprises... But, it's definitely a good read!

From the illustrated cover, I thought this was a rom com, which it really wasn't. I'm not even sure it's a romance - the male and female leads don't even meet until halfway through. What it is is an exploration of a woman's move from Jewish secularism to becoming part of a haredi (very orthodox) community in order to find meaning and a better life. I really appreciated the insight into this community, and the balanced view of the beauty and also👇

I have been a fan of Naomi Ragen‘s books for many years. I loved all of her earlier books, until around 2010. The three books after that date I did not care for. But I still am a fan and am thrilled to report that I LOVED “An Unorthodox Match”. This is a beautiful story of faith, love, forgiveness, second chances, and acceptance.

I enjoyed reading this very well-written & finely detailed novel! You can smell the challah, feel the heat of the candles & cheer & struggle along with these very interesting characters! The book opens with Leah joining an Orthodox community which allows for a lot of the details into the rituals, rules and customs of this part of the Jewish faith to be woven into the narrative. The plot isn‘t unexpected but this is a good read! Thanks, #NetGalley!
