Mortal Love
Mortal Love | Elizabeth Hand
5 posts | 4 read | 3 to read
Swirling between eras and continents, Mortal Love is an intense novel of unforgettable characters caught in a whirlwind of art, love, and intrigue. Mercurial Larkin Meade may hold the key to lost artistic masterpieces, and to secrets too devastating to imagine. Is there an undying moment? An immortal muse? Is there ... an angel of death? I was so, so excited to revisit MORTAL LOVE, which I first read in 2013, but I‘m sad to report it‘s gone from something I desperately loved to something I‘m kinda interested in. It‘s still good, but I wish it were still luminous. 😔

I do very much love the wall of coloured fairy lights I installed above my headboard. Draped all together like this, they‘re bright enough to read by when I‘m tucked up in bed.

Did I pick my next read for its epigraph? You bet I did. (Also because Elizabeth Hand is a genius, of course.)

I really enjoyed this story about love and obsession. Filled with art and poetry and the lushness of the fae, this was a sumptuous read.

Luminous Victorian intrigue and wonder. Lucky girl that I found this on such a chilly and drear afternoon.
