Inspired by Mark Twain's classic tales, a debut novel explores the mysterious life and strange death of Huckleberry Finn's infamous father, describing Finn's fearsome father, the Judge; his brother, the sickly, sycophantic Will; Bliss, a reclusive, blind moonshiner; his mistress Mary, a former slave; and young Huck. A first novel. Reprint. 50,000 first printing.

Reading this one for my book club. I also have a copy of Huckleberry Finn that I'm skimming. Coincidentally, I am at the same point in both books! Think I may read both, back and forth, and get the perspective of both Huck and his father, as I travel through this corner of Mississippi River life!

Suzze Good idea! We read this for our book group in 2010. (Just looked, I did not remember). It was good, but I didn't love it. Looking forward to your views. 7y

Just picked up this free arc at library. Hadn't heard anything about it, but it sounds intriguing.
