What if friendship cost you everything? Dumped at her grandmothers house in Hawaii after a family tragedy, sixteen-year-old Olive Galloway is desperate to return to Boston before her dad loses all common sense and sells the family house. But plane tickets cost money. With the help of a quirky guy named Brander, and a mysterious girl named Jazz, Olive lands a summer job and launches a scheme to buy a plane ticket home by the end of the summer. They talk her into hanging out at their church youth group, but Olive cant help remembering how God didnt answer her prayers the last time it was really important. Why should He help now? Its up to her to make it home. When Jazz reveals a painful secret, Olives plans are challenged. Jazz needs moneylots of it. Olive and Brander are determined to help their friend but, when their fundraising efforts are thwarted, Olive is caught in the middle. Helping Jazz means giving up her ticket home. And time is running out.

The Porch Swing Girl | Taylor Bennett

Olive is angry. Snarky. Sarcastic. Stubborn. Sad. Olive is realistic and relatable. She‘s determined, sometimes to a fault. Olive is also generous, kind and caring.

There‘s a whisper of romance woven through the pages. It‘s sweet and innocent, based on friendship, and most importantly, God‘s will, first.

I couldn‘t put this book down! Porch Swing Girl is a refreshing and totally engaging read! Taylor Bennett has a ton of natural talent!

Just started this book.... I‘m only on page 10 but so far I am LOVING IT! The author really draws you in and gives amazing detail. Totally recommend (the first ten pages, at least) this book so far. Will give more info laterrr! (Also, the author, Taylor Bennett, was only 17 when she first published this book! The whole thing really gives hope to young writers!)
