My son has gobbled up this series! If you have a tween, they may like it too.

Cute. Good for explaining basic coding to kids. Not really a story with just volume one.

My local children's bookstore is promoting a Reading Without Walls bingo #challenge. (This idea comes from Gene Luen Yang, National Ambassador of Young People's Literature.)

Cute introduction to coding in the form of a graphic novel starring some quirky kids at a mysterious school. Short and somewhat interactive presenting some exercises for kids to test their coding skills. I'll have to add this to babe's library. Now for the sequel! #mommyreads #graphicnovel #comics #ebook

Super fun graphic novel that teaches you about code too! Plus the characters are fun and the mystery drives the plot. I feel very proud of myself that I learned some stuff! Get it for the kids in your life! #kidlitsy #graphicnovels #middlegrade

I know I'll love this ... it's from Gene Luen Yang. However, I'm having a hard time getting over the typo on the back. Can you find it? Are you bugged now too?

Just heard the news that Gene Luen Yang has received a MacArthur grant! Here's the scoop: https://www.facebook.com/sandy.littell/posts/10208640515702713 Those of you into graphic novels, which ones would you recommend to a newbie?

Louise If you're not on Facebook, the link might be hard to access. Couldn't pull up an LA Times original link. Sorry! 8y
Laura317 He is awesome! Thanks for the info. 8y
Louise @Laura317 I'm not familiar with graphic novels. Is a book like this a good place to dip my toes into the waters? Or what would you recommend as an intro to the genre? 8y

librarian365 My kiddo devoured both the Secret Coders books! 8y
Louise @librarian365 That's a powerful recommendation! 👍🤓 8y
Laura317 @Louise I am probably not the person to ask. I love the Ms. Marvel series. Lots of folks rave over the Saga one. If you like history, March is supposed to be really good. I'm just starting to get into them myself. 8y
Louise Thanks, @Laura317! A friend on Facebook just gave me some pointers to get me started. I think it's also a matter of browsing and seeing what catches my interest. It's an interesting new thing to discover! 🤓 8y

Hopper hates her new school because it is so weird! She + her friend Eni work together using skills like binary + coding to solve mysteries around the school. It seems like every time they solve one clue, another pops up.

Loved this! My 10yr old did too. It's funny + a great way to introduce STEM to MG comic readers. Great for both boys + girls. Creative + it kept my attention until the end. I wanted the next installment immediately! ✔️💯👏🏻
