Bailedbailed

I truly don‘t intend to be judgmental in my review of this short story. It was not for me. I don‘t mind the language or sexual content and I respect peoples‘ lifestyle choices. I found the plot boring and immature. I received this as a free Audible original ages ago. It has a full cast of narrators that was mediocre. I was expecting it to be more of a dark mystery. I bailed pretty quickly. This just isn‘t a story I want to spend my time with.

KathyWheeler I‘ve had this for quite sometime as well but have never listened to it. 2y
NatalieR @KathyWheeler It seems to have decent reviews on here. You may enjoy it. 2y

I read 15 books in August, which was a pretty good reading month for me. Razorblade Tears, Borderline, and Legendborn were all crazy-good five star reads. The only one I really didn't like was the book about Alex Trebek and the last Simon Snow was just okay. All of the other books were solid 4 star reads.

HOTPock3tt I loved legendborn too!! 😃😍🎉 3y

Pickpick

I see why people like Jon Ronson now, though this feels way more like a radio program than a book in audio form. I'll have to think about whether I want to count Audible Originals as books in my totals.

Ronson & his producers investigate the death by suicide of porn star August Ames. Her husband blames bullying in the porn industry. The porn industry blames her controlling husband. Ronson weaves a nice story with a complicated conclusion.

Porn star tweets something homophobic. Twitter gets mad. Porn star dies by suicide. Jon Ronson interviews husband, who has decided that “social justice warriors“ are bad.

So I'm 7 minutes into this short original, and already I dislike everyone except Jon Ronson. I've heard good things about Ronson, so hopefully he pulls this one out of the trash fire.

#AugustReads #AugustWrapUp
Lots of good books this past month. Mostly 3 or 4 star books for me with the exception of Into The Drowning Deep (5) and Depression & Other Magic Tricks (2).

My next #tbrjarpick is...The Last Days Of August by Jon Ronson. Here‘s the synopsis of the audiobook I just started listening to:”In December 2017, famed adult film star August Ames died by suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. Her death came just a day after she‘d been the victim of a social media pile-on by fellow porn professionals—punishment for her tweeting out something deemed homophobic.” It‘s sad but it‘s interesting.
