Pickpick

It‘s a soft pick but I thought it was going to be really bad, and it …was not, somehow. Silly & corny yes. But an Edwardian Cinderella story, postpandemic, with zombies and katanas. Kinda gross, kinda funny, kinda feminist. Ok then. The next one is Rapunzel where her family are doomsday preppers who take it a sign of the apocalypse that the Titanic sank. I don‘t know that I need to read it, but I‘m not convinced that I won‘t.

Given the somewhat dumpster fire week I had at work I‘m actually surprised I got any reading done - but still, my first #bookreport is pretty lackluster. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Top row: completed this week
Bottom row: started this week (tho made very little progress)

Pickpick

Essentially Cinderella the zombie killer. Not really my genre, but I was hoping for something Buffy-esque. This was pretty well done in terms of concept - the Spanish flu epidemic after WWI creates zombies, and Ella, the heroine, kills the zombies for her village. The writing style wasn't my favorite, but I'd give this a 3.5/5 ⭐ overall.
