pickBelinda the Ballerina by Amy Young is a realistic fiction children‘s book. This book shares a valuable lesson of never giving up on your dreams. Belinda is judged by her big feet at the audition for the annual ballet recital. She almost gives up on her love for dancing after being told her feet would inhibit her from being a dancer. I would use this book for storytelling in my future classroom.
audrey.wilson This book works well for me to use as storytelling because of my dancing past. Before beginning the lesson, I will share with my students the story of how I was judged by my height, and quit dance because of my “difference.” 6y

ESOL strategy 2 aligns with the lesson plan and accepting our differences, and ESOL strategy 14 will be utilized during the storytelling. 6y

audrey.wilson The UDL strategies for this book are found in the storytelling. Offering alternatives for auditory (1.2) and visual information (1.3) are provided by listening to me tell the story, and watching me dance and express the story‘s emotions. 6y
