“Let's go on an adventure together!“

This book is super fun and lighthearted and I think students would enjoy reading this. It has some funny moments but also talks about Jelly becoming jealous which could be a good lesson for students as well.

In “Narwhal's Otter Friend“ written by Ben Clanton, Ottie the explorer and Narwhal talk about their experiences, Ottie talks about surfing and partying with other animals. Then Ottie and Jelly the Jellyfish give some facts about themselves. Jelly then goes on to talk about feeling left out. After going on an adventure, they bond and become good friends!

This book would be great to use at the beginning of the year with your students, even possibly as a read aloud. It allows children to see that you can have multiple friends, and building those friendships are an important part of school. This will help develop a school classroom community, and everyone will be willing to help and support one another.

Narwhal greets Otto with excitement, while Jelly is scared of loosing Narwhal as a friend. As the stories progress, you are able to see how jelly can work through his jealousy. This book also does a good job highlighting bright and bold sea illustrations that makes it easy for children to read.

“Jelly, you‘re my best friend and it wouldn‘t be awesomest adventure ever without you! So what do you say? Are you in?” (Clanton, 2019).

My favorite part of the book is when they gave fun facts about otters and jellyfish in the middle of the book. I thought that it was a good educational spin on the book.

Jelly and Narwhal come across an otter. He tells them of all of his adventures and his favorite adventurer. Narwhal thinks it‘s pretty cool, but Jelly starts to get jealous. He decides to go find a new friend. After searching, he decides to choose a rock. Otter and Narwhal find Jelly and tell him about the amazing adventure they want to go on, but they say it wouldn‘t be the awesomest adventure without Jelly.

“Sometimes it‘s good to share friends.”

This book can be linked to my teaching by encouraging discussions on how to manage feelings like jealousy, using its lighthearted approach to explore social dynamics and relationships in a relatable way for young students.

This book was published in 2019 and is a graphic novel in the humorous adventure genre. The story explores themes of friendship and jealousy as Narwhal and Jelly meet a new, adventurous otter friend, highlighting the dynamics of forming new connections.

This could be an addition to a classroom library to make students smile while reading.

Graphica - A sweet book about the adventures of otty, narwhal and jelly and the power of friendship.

My granddaughter gave this book to her brother who loooves Narwhal and Jelly books, so I had to read it.

Oh my goodness I love this girl. I just found this book selfie on my phone. She loves this series. I‘m so proud of how hard she works at reading.

4⭐️ As always these stories are a joy to read. They are the perfect length and format to bridge the picture book to chapter canal. This nine Jelly is jealous of Narwhals new friend Otter. Readers will have a pun tasting time with book 4 of this super fun series.
