Wounded
Wounded: A New History of the Western Front in World War I | Emily R. Mayhew
2 posts | 1 to read
"The number of soldiers wounded in World War I is, in itself, devastating: over 21 million military wounded, and nearly 10 million killed. On the battlefield, the injuries were shocking, unlike anything those in the medical field had ever witnessed ... And yet the medical personnel faced with these unimaginable injuries adapted with amazing aptitude, thinking and reacting on their feet to save millions of lives. [Focusing on the British Army, the author] tells the history of the Western Front from a new perspective: the medical network that arose seemingly overnight to help sick and injured soldiers"--Publisher's description.

@Ijuliel Q. What time frame do you enjoy reading about? If you don‘t like NF history or HF, then is there a time frame you prefer?

I like anything related to #worldwars and I guess anything involving cruelty or high deaths. That sounds bad but I just find it crazy how such terrible things can happen (& continue to) in a world where we call ourselves civilized and humanitarian #europeanhistory #pacificwar #famines #nonfiction

ljuliel Thanks for your post. It‘s been interesting to see what a varied list there is. Almost everyone picked different time frames. 4y
