Love the wide variety of progressive activists author Blair Imani profiles, from artists & actors to social media influencers to business owners & entrepreneurs. Most of these are very recent names that showed me how much there is to keep up with. Like the inclusion of pronunciation guides for each name. I wish the profiles had been a little longer and the illustrations a little less stylized. Great for teens and others hoping to change the world.
A great read - highly encouraged for middle/high schoolers. 💪🏻

Started this yesterday - already have learned so much.
This is Patsy Takemoto Mink. She was a congresswoman from Hawaii (the first WOC, first Asian American woman, and first woman from Hawaii to be elected to congress) and she was one of the cosponsors of Title IX. Apparently, when she passed away in 2002, Title X was renamed the Patsy T Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act. Thanks Patsy, for making sure that we have as many resources available to us as the boys! #HardcoreLadyType
Hell yes Blair Imani! This is exactly how I feel as well, mostly so I can encourage kids, but also so I can unleash a crushing wave of information on anyone who tells me women, people of color and LGBTQIA+ folks have not always been achieving amazing things right alongside men. 👍🤘
Have just a few minutes of time before I need to get ready for work, and decided to start this book. Flipping through the table of contents and I saw Cameron Esposito included! I was excited to learn about women pushing boundaries, but I didn‘t realize how many different kinds of artists were included! I‘m so excited that I might discover more media that I love as much as Cameron‘s podcasts and stand-up sets!

Sometimes I read a book and I don‘t feel it can go back to the library until there‘s another copy sitting on my bookshelf. This is one of those books.
Blair Imani writes about 70 women (including transgender women) and nonbinary people, most of whom are people of color, of different ages and abilities, and religious and non religion backgrounds. The stories are enhanced by a glossary and further resources.
