Doctor Who: Father Time
Doctor Who: Father Time | Lance Parkin
4 posts | 1 read
'I love her.' The Doctor said. 'Of course you do, she's your daughter.' Earth in the nineteen-eighties is a battleground. Rival alien factions have travelled from the far future to pursue their vendetta. With UFOs filling the skies, a giant robot stalking the Derbyshire hills, and alien hunters searching for the mysterious Last One, the Doctor is the only man who can protect the innocents caught in the crossfire. But old scores are being settled, the fate of a Galactic Empire is at stake and, against his will, the Doctor is drawn into a decade-long war that will strike at those he holds most dear. The Doctor has lost his memory, his friends, his past and his TARDIS. All he has now is the love of his daughter. But will even that be taken from him? A Classic Doctor Who Adventure featuring the Eighth Doctor as played by Paul McGann.

This one was good. Not a typical Who story, as the Doctor is trapped on Earth and doesn‘t know he‘s a Time Lord, but even without his memories he acts the way you‘d expect the Doctor to act (except for maybe becoming a yuppie and wearing his long hair in a ponytail during the 80s). His adopted daughter Miranda is a great character in her own right, and one I wish had been revisited. Of course, with Doctor Who there‘s always time! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Did you know the Doctor had a daughter before Jenny? I'm not talking about Susan's still unseen mother, this daughter is Miranda Dawkins who was adopted by the Eighth Doctor after her parents died. I'm about halfway through Father Time, so I don't know how or why she leaves him, but I'll bet it's heartbreaking. Photo credit pauljhanley.tumblr.com

The Doctor‘s eyes snapped open.

‘I thought they‘d never go,‘ he said cheerfully. ‘Shall we escape?‘

Even though I'm in the middle of one book and I just started reading the final volume of the First Law Trilogy, last night I read the first couple chapters of this Eighth Doctor Adventures book and now I'm hooked.
