When Bob Met Woody
When Bob Met Woody: The Story of the Young Bob Dylan | Gary Golio
2 posts | 1 read
An enchanting, true story of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature winner, Bob Dylan, and his mentor, Woody Guthrie. "Hey hey, Woody Guthrie, I wrote you a song..." When Bob finished, Woody's face lit up like the sun. Bob Dylan is a musical icon, an American legend, and, quite simply, a poet. But before he became Bob Dylan, he was Bob Zimmerman, a kid from rural Minnesota. This lyrical and gorgeously illustrated picture book biography follows Bob as he renames himself after his favorite poet, Dylan Thomas, and leaves his mining town to pursue his love of music in New York City. There, he meets his folk music hero and future mentor, Woody Guthrie, changing his life forever.

#SelfImprovementSept Day 27: Dylan struck me as a restless soul who was too stubborn to do what was expected of him by his family at the time: either become a miner or run his father‘s business. He was a dreamer, a poet, a fierce being who was driven to create #music that meant something. However, it was Woody Guthrie‘s songs that resonated with him, most of all. My review of this lovely nonfiction title: https://wp.me/pDlzr-iS4

When I‘ve had a #harddaysnight I often listen to this poem by Bob Dylan “Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie”. Here‘s a small bit: And lonesome comes up as down goes the day...
And yer whole world's a-slammin' and bangin'
And yer minutes of sun turn to hours of storm
And to yourself you sometimes say
"I never knew it was gonna be this way
Why didn't they tell me the day I was born" #heyjune

DivineDiana Love any Bob Dylan reference! ❤️ 6y
