Last year my husband bought me five books for my birthday. I‘ve read three of them. Despite still needing to read the two pictured, I intend to ask for more for my July birthday. I‘m compiling a wishlist of books that truly excite me. What do you recommend I look into? I prefer books that make me think and/or books with emotional depth, most specifically within the thriller and horror genre, although I do like contemporary dramas, as well.

“You know what would be so lovely? [...] If cherry blossoms bloomed in winter! Can you imagine that? All those beautiful flowers, against so much white!”

This book shattered my heart in a million different ways. The writing is achingly ethereal, yet all too real. Emilia is in a sense all of us who had something fundamental ripped away from us as children.

What happened to June??? These are the books I still want to read. Have you read any?

My reasons & short blurbs on the blog. https://www.bethfishreads.com/2018/06/8-june-novels-i-still-want-to-read.html?m=...

BethFishReads @Simona that might be my top pick 6y
Dogearedcopy I read ‘The Myth of Perpetual Summer‘ which is something of a Southern Gothic tale for women. I rate it a “So-So”: Though there are some memorable scenes, I was a bit underwhelmed with the story as a whole. I had to look up the reviews to jog my memory as to what it was about (even though this was a recent read for me!) 6y
BethFishReads @Dogearedcopy thanks! Maybe I‘ll slide that one down 6y
Rhondareads A Place For Us excellent well written involving characters stay with you even after you finish the book, 6y
BethFishReads @Rhondareads thanks for your thought. If you liked it, I probably will too 6y

Between the cover and the title I'm sure this will be a tear jerker.
