Take the Fall | Emily Hainsworth
2 posts | 3 read | 12 to read
Twin Peaks meets Thirteen Reasons Why in this gripping and evocative tale of one girl unraveling the mystery of her best friend's murder, from acclaimed author Emily Hainsworth. WHO KILLED GRETCHEN MEYER? Fear grips the residents of Hidden Falls the night Sonia Feldman and her best friend, Gretchen Meyer, are attacked in the woods. Sonia was lucky to escape with her life, but Gretchen's body is discovered at the bottom of a waterfall. Beautiful, popular, and seemingly untouchable, Gretchen can't be gone. Even as Sonia struggles with guilt and confusion over having survived, the whole town is looking to her for information. . . . Could she have seen something that will lead the police to the killer? At the top of the list of suspects is Gretchen's ex-boyfriend—and Sonia's longtime enemy—Marcus Perez. So when Marcus comes to Sonia for help clearing his name, she agrees, hoping to find evidence the police need to prove he's the killer. But as Gretchen's many secrets emerge and the suspects add up, Sonia feels less sure of Marcus's involvement and more afraid for herself. Could Marcus—the artist, the screw-up, the boy she might be falling for—have attacked her? Killed her best friend? And if it wasn't him in the woods that night . . . who could it have been?

Pickpick

Either I am really off my game or this book just hid it very well from me, but I truly did not suspect the murderer at all. Until confession. I was torn between two, but never actually guessed it. It was a quick read and a little "Pretty Little Liars"-esque, and I actually read in two sittings even though I tend to limit myself to a certain amount of pages since I typically read a lot of books at once. Clearly this one pulled me in, but in all...

BooksTeasAndBookishThings ...honesty, I am not even sure why. It was just one that did it for me. I give a pick because even though it was generic in a lot of ways, it still got me. 7y
BiblioNyan Sometimes books just have that effect, which is what makes them awesome. 😊 7y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings @Bibli0.Nyan Exactly! Music and books are so unique with that 😊 7y

#BookMail today is the beginning of the rest of my #LitsyAtoZchallenge set! Oaken and Quanta will be my "O" and "Q". Since I owned a few and preordered a few that I put on my list, I just had to obtain the rest that I KNEW I wanted to read before the end of 2017. Four and Take the Fall are two that were close but were beat out by Feversong and Talking as Fast as I Can. I still wanted them. I found all of them for less than $4! More to come ??
