Pickpick

Granite by Susan Butcher and David Monson; Genre: NF; Teaching Strategy: RA, IR, PR. I think this book would make a great read aloud because it has a lot to do with information and this book could also spark a research project. When I was a child I was obsessed with the Iditarod race in Alaska and would follow the race online every year. It would be a great project for research skills and this book could go along well with that. #UCFLAE3414SP18

Jeffersleighann This book was written about herself and her dog a Granite. Susan saw potential in Granite (I really don‘t want to spoil the end so I can‘t say much more). This book highlights both the challenges and upsides on their journey to the Iditarod. 6y
Jeffersleighann UDL 4.2: Optimize access to tools and assistive technologies. I feel this would be a great research project opener so provide students with technology to be able to do so. 6y
Jeffersleighann Here is the biography of Susan Butcher which could be a resource for the classroom to learn more about her. Https://www.britannica.com/biography/Susan-Butcher 6y

DrSpalding Cool book. After reading your summary I immediately thought of Gary Paulsen‘s adventure books. This book could connect to both science and social studies curriculum. 6y
Jeffersleighann @DrSpalding My grandmother is a librarian and she had this book signed for me as well before Susan Butcher passed. 6y
