I picked this up on a whim at the library - just because it‘s subtitled ‘A Brooklyn Tale‘ and I think it might be one of my favourites of the year.
It looks at race and religion through the lives of 3 characters, spanning 4 decades. It‘s one of those books that holds your attention through the skilful story-weaving, but I also learnt so much about the Hasidic religion and about real-life racial tensions in Crown Heights.
