#tracks #nuyear Elevated trains in NYC. May 12th 1955 was the last run for the 3rd Ave line. This book is a little love letter to the Els.Part of the charm beyond the stations and such are the neighborhood pictures from mid century, kids playing, outdoor newsstands, gents in hats and a pushcart or two. Subways are faster , but I would have loved to see the view.

TrishB Love the variety of posts today 👍🏻 this looks lovely. 6y
Leftcoastzen @TrishB mostly gone now, Bloomingdales still there. That subway station has an entrance to Bloomies so if the weather is bad, you don‘t have to go outside to get in the store.😁 6y
batsy Looks like a fascinating book! My nephew would love it 🚂🚅 6y
Cinfhen Very cool!! I always equate the El with Chicago for some reason (and Brooklyn).... 6y
