Eleanor & the Egret
Eleanor & the Egret | John Layman
6 posts | 5 read | 2 to read
The most daring art thief in Paris has struck again, and the police have assigned their best detective to the case. His only clue? A single white feather left at the scene. Could this feather belong to the thief? To the thief's accomplice, an oversized talking egret? Or will his investigation lead him to somewhere even stranger? (Answer: all of the above.) Presenting a peculiar and unforgettable tale of birds and banditry, paintings and pets, larceny, love and...lamprey-wielding assassins? From the legendary creator of THE MAXX and co-creator of SANDMAN, Sam Kieth, and the considerably less-legendary creator of CHEW, John Layman!

Strange and quirky, Eleanor and Her Egret is a winning team! This short story did not unfold with anything like predictability. I enjoyed every twist and turn. #netgalley

#nomnomnom This was one of those #wtf moments where I had more questions than answers: Why did the bird eat the painting? How does the bird grow and shrink? etc. #speechbubblechallenge #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongMarathon

#furrytales The people stand around chatting, but the animals are the ones doing the real thieving and crime solving in this comic! #speechbubblechallenge #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongMarathon

MayJasper Sounds fun 6y
readinginthedark @MayJasper It was...interesting, and maybe not for me. But if you like strange animal comics and super random events, this would be right up your alley! 👍🏻 6y
RealLifeReading Fun! I've not heard of this one before 6y
readinginthedark @RealLifeReading I just picked it up during a singles sale at my local comic book shop; I had never heard of it either! 6y

#tilnexttime I can‘t figure out whether the detective is actually enchanted by her or if he‘s onto her already. It seems like he found her really quickly, mystery solved. #speechbubblechallenge #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongMarathon

Issue #1: Eleanor and her egret are #bffs and also art thieves—their reasoning is unclear, because Eleanor doesn‘t want money. And the egret is capable of some pretty crazy feats. I don‘t know what to think of this one; not sure I‘ll read more. #speechbubblechallenge #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongMarathon

Clwojick Looks fun 6y
readinginthedark @Clwojick It‘s definitely different than other comics I‘ve read! Haven‘t decided how I feel about it yet. 6y
