An alien ship comes, and humans are too busy arguing and shifting responsibility to do anything about it.

What I got from this piece is mostly inertia. The bureaucracy, the media circus, ignoring the science, and looking for one‘s own gain—I was uncomfortably reminded of the covid times, and it was not a pleasant feeling. Unfortunately, while it gets kudos for invoking an emotional reaction, the story itself is nothing to write home about.
