My first Wonder Woman comic, after being familiar with the character only as a pop culture icon. Gail Simone really writes her character with her persona as a goddess at the forefront. I‘m intrigued to see where the rest of this series will go. I liked the first half of the artwork better than the second half though.

A strong work that really shows Diana's love for her mother.

Virtually nothing with Tom Tresser works, but otherwise, the start of Gail Simone's run on WONDER WOMAN is stronger than I remembered. Simone has a great grasp at the balance between warrior and peacekeeper, and these stories do a good job at highlighting Wonder Woman's approach to superheroics. Considerably less innovative than Rucka or Perez, but still a strong collection with some lovely art from the Dodsons.

Are DC comics typically more darker and angsty than Marvel comics? Because this is my first DC and the entire mood is way different than all the Marvel comics I've read to date.
