This arc ends with a glimpse of a future Gotham patrolled by Bat-drones and under the control of a more brutal Batman. This storyline intersects with James Tynion's Detective Comics run.

I know this is the rebirth but The first volume was just eh. I did appreciate the drastic hair differences to indicate change in time. I‘m still on the fence on Kate‘s character development..🧐.

Not very familiar with the back story of Kate Kane, as I‘m not a huge DC person. But the inking & illustrations are done very well. 🤞 the story doesn‘t disappoint.

Two surprisingly excellent number 1s and two introductions to mediocre events that I‘m probably going to keep buying bc I am a fool. #comicrecs #wednesdayspoilers
👇individual notes and ratings in the comments👇

nosferatoos 👋Avengers 891: It‘s still an Avengers event for sure. I‘m not sure how this is going to sustain itself for the next two months, to be honest. They have been hinting at the same thing on every last page reveal since the beginning of the event and (spoiler alert) the big reveal has already been spoiled by solicitations. 6y
nosferatoos 👍Batwoman 12: This has been slower than I would like and not what I expected from Bennett who is one of my favorite writers. But it does finally feel like it‘s going somewhere. 6y
nosferatoos 🙌Deathbed 1: Joshua Williamson and Riley Rossmo doing a Vertigo style had me 100% on board the second I saw the solicit for this. And it does not disappoint. It‘s only a five issue mini series but I am very excited to see where this goes. 6y

nosferatoos 👋Doctor Strange Damnation 1: it‘s fine I guess. I wasn‘t thrilled about buying something with Nick Spencer‘s name on it. But I love Donny Cates and Rod Reis‘s art is beautiful. But the story is meh and Reis is off art in issue two. Apparently it‘s crossing over with Scarlet Spider which is weird as fuck. Clearly angling for a sales boost. (edited) 6y
nosferatoos 👋Infinity Countdown Prime: It‘s a marvel event with Infinity in the title because there‘s a movie coming out in a year. It‘s fine. I‘ll keep buying it. But I‘m salty about wolverine proper being back already. This is definitely a 0.1 issue complete with informative back matter. (edited) 6y
nosferatoos 🙌Mata Hari 1: Another Fantastic no 1 issue. This is the first of Dark Horses Berger Books line that has really grabbed my attention. Mata Hari is such a fascinating historical figure and I am so into reading a comic about her. The artist is so perfectly suited for this too (you might know her work from Insexts—if you don‘t you should). All around it is such a pretty book and I can‘t wait for more. 6y
nosferatoos 👍Regression 7: Horror comics at its finest. This is still creepy even when not a ton of stuff is happening. The art is BEAUTIFUL. Honestly Danny Luckert is so talented I hope he does more stuff. 6y
nosferatoos 👍Super Sons 13: a fucking delight. I love this book. Damien is my fav robin and John is the sweetest boy. 6y
nosferatoos 👍Twisted Romance 3: cute anthology series remains cute. This one didn‘t live up go the last two for me, but it still worked. 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @nosferatoos I'ma try and pick up Mata Hari this weekend. I didn't add it to my pulls and my lcs doesn't bring that kind of stuff in so will have to go find it elsewhere. I was disappointed with Ghost Stories from Berger Books so I'm hoping for this one to be more my thing. 6y
nosferatoos My store only got 5 copies of Meta Hari bc Hungry Ghosts didn‘t sell very well. Which is such a bummer because Karen Berger was THE reason that Vertigo was so good back in the day. I don‘t think Dark Horse has that kinda promotional power anymore though. Talk about a company on its last leg 😬 @GrilledCheeseSamurai (edited) 6y

1⭐️ I am so disappointed in this rebirth. First off it does not feel like a rebirth. Lots of plot lines and so many holes. Almost as if you have to read other books at the same time to know what is going on. Plus, I expect new things with a rebirth title. Kate being drummed out of the military for being gay is no longer valid in these times. This is all over the place, and I don‘t want to be in any of them.

TricksyTails Ugh this makes me sad. I loved James Tynion IV in Talon and love J. H. Williams III 6y
LibrarianRyan @TricksyTails there are some of these rebirths that are just ugh. I too liked hydrology. 6y

I haven‘t read much of this DCU character before — she‘s intriguing, and I like that the story is largely set out of Gotham, which makes it more her own.

I am fairly new to superhero comics and DC has been limited to mainly Batgirl and Nightwing. I enjoyed those and was hoping Batwoman would fall along the same lines. However, I felt the story line was forced and didn't care about what was happening. The story was not quite an origin story, not quite fighting the villain plot.

I've read one other DC Rebirth comic and didn't like it, so I think this DC universe just isn't for me.
