Rest in Pieces
Rest in Pieces: A Mrs. Murphy Mystery | Rita Mae Brown
7 posts | 8 read | 2 to read
Mrs. Murphy thinks the new man in town is the cat's meow.... Maybe she should think again. Small towns don't take kindly to strangers--unless the stranger happens to be a drop-dead gorgeous and seemingly unattached male. When Blair Bainbridge comes to Crozet, Virginia, the local matchmakers lose no time in declaring him perfect for their newly divorced postmistress, Marry Minor "Harry Haristeen." Even Harry's tiger cat, Ms. Murphy, and her Welsh Corgi, Tee Tucker, believe he smells A-okay. Could his one little imperfection be that he's a killer? Blair becomes the most likely suspect when the pieces of a dismembered corpse begin tuming up around Crozet. No one knows who the dead man is, but when a grisly clue makes a spectacular appearance in the middle of the fall festivities, more than an early winter snow begins chilling the blood of Crozet's very best people. That's when Ms. Murphy, her friend Tucker, and her human companion Harry begin to sort throughout the clues . . . only to find themselves a whisker away from becoming the killer's next victims. From the Paperback edition.

Cute, low-commitment novel in a cute, low-commitment series. Great for a travel recovery day. Two books in, though, and I am wondering how long until the "crime-solving pets" gimmick gets old for me.

Ruthiella The trick for me is to not read the books too close together. 8mo

I love these books. I read 95% of this today, once the mystery kicked in, I had to know what was going to happen and who the murderer was. There was a great twist, which I always appreciate. And animals as main characters is a big plus in my book. #readharderchallenge

My kitties definitely know how to rest. This is Em & Poe right now. #catsoflitsy

JanuarieTimewalker13 I love cats!!!!❤️they‘re adorable. I have one that is super high maintenance. As soon as I sit down to eat, he suddenly wants something. Right now he‘s waiting in front of the closet for me to open the door for him. I‘m like a ping pong ball with him and he takes advantage. Lol 3y

A pick, with reservations. I like cosy crime, but not if it gets too twee. This book teeters on the edge of twee, the animals talk, the neighbors all have cute nicknames etc. To be fair RMB always pulls it back from the edge. I cordially dislike all the headhopping she does. However I find myself annoyed that I can't get the next of the series on ebook. So for that reason it has to be a pick.

The second in the Mrs. Tucker series and I enjoyed revisiting her, Tucker and Pewter. Not to mention, Simon.
