The Haunting of Toby Jugg
The Haunting of Toby Jugg | Dennis Wheatley
2 posts | 3 to read
A stirring psychological thriller adapted into the movie The Haunted Airman starring Robert Pattinson. Toby Jugg, a fighter pilot shot down in combat, is now confined to his bed with little hope of walking again. He is also the heir to a considerable fortune - a fortune that is being administered by a board of trustees until he comes of age. But night after night, out there in the moonlight, Something was trying to get in at the bedroom window. A huge malevolent Something. Something not of this world. Inside, Toby thought first that he was hallucinating, then that he must be going mad, finally that this evil Something was real and striving to reach him. So begins what is probably Dennis Wheatley's most terrifying story of the supernatural. The struggle which ensues brings Toby unexpected help but also treachery as it moves inexorably towards an appalling confrontation and seemingly inevitable catastrophe.

I‘m so excited. Popped into my favourite charity bookshop this morning whilst I was in town and this just happened to be peeking up at me from one of the bottoms shelves 😍

Dennis Wheatley was one of my Nan‘s favourite authors (I inherit my love of the supernatural from her) and I‘ve had a job finding copies of his books. This was the exact copy my Nan had so I‘m over the moon to find it!

Saturday well and truly made 💙

TheNeverendingTBR Love this collection book! 😊 6y

⚀ The tagged book - read it when I was much younger and it really scared the 💩 out of me.
⚁ Not a movie but tv series. American Horror Story: Asylum (series 2).
⚂ When my youngest son was a baby he had his first epileptic seizure - having never witnessed one before, I was sure he was dying. I was beyond frightened.

melyndarae How scary! I have a friend who has a son with epilepsy. He's getting ready to have surgery next month. 6y
JenlovesJT47 ❤️❤️❤️season two of AHS is my favorite! 6y
ShookBelf @melyndarae His epilepsy was well controlled with medication thankfully and three years ago we were able to wean him off all meds with no ill effects. I have nothing but empathy for those whose seizures do not respond to medication. It really is one of the most terrifying things to witness. I hope your friend's son's surgery is successful xx 6y

melyndarae @ShookBelf I'm so glad you were able to take him off the meds. I can't even imagine how scary it is. And thanks, she's driving to Dallas for the surgery so I may go up and visit while she's there. 6y
Christine11 Thanks for the tag! Seeing your little boy having a seizure must have been so terrifying for you - I‘m so glad things have improved for him now and he‘s been able to come off the meds 😊💕 6y
jhod Thanks for the tag! And Yes, that experience does sound horribly scary. I tend to avoid anything too scary...! How are we getting on with #lmpbc @Christine11 @AndiM ? I need to get a move on! 6y
ShookBelf @jhod I'm all done with my book and will be posting it on to @Christine11 this week. Think we need to bear in mind the Easter bank holidays next week / the week after. They will definitely affect the time it takes for deliveries. 6y
AndiM @jhod I'm in the middle of Killman Creek atm..it's really good and then I have an interview on Friday so need to do some bits for that. THEN I will start.... 6y
Christine11 @jhod @ShookBelf @AndiM I just finished my book yesterday so I can probably send it on to whoever I‘m supposed to later this week (I‘ll go back and check the email to see who I‘m to send it on to!) I‘ve mostly just written my thoughts in the book but I was thinking of sending a little notebook with it for overall thoughts? Hope you‘re all well! 😊🌸💗 6y
jhod @Christine11 great well done! Notebook sounds good too. I Will get a wriggle on :-) @AndiM 6y
