panThis romance felt like it was from the 90s: flat, Mary Sue, super innocent yet “spunky” heroine and a flat, boring, uncommunicative hero. It also featured secrets that make no sense, cartoonish villains, and a smattering of Scottish accents for impact. Give this a miss.
so-soPros: strong writing, plot is adequate and typical of the “highland romance” subcategory. Terrific wit and humor.
Cons: Insta-love, heroine is leaning toward too-stupid-to-live, and formulaic plot elements. This could almost be classified as ‘Christian or inspirational romance‘, but the spiritual elements are light and as far as I know, historically accurate.
In summary: a light and enjoyable read, if your standards are low and your boredom high.

panMy favorite part was when Caitlin thinks that she is possessed by a succubus because she kissed someone. Seriously? Also, the thinking of all of the men in this book that women can't do anything for themselves and need to be constantly led around by the nose because they'll mess everything up otherwise is such an outdated sentiment that it astounds me that this book is written by a women. I'm so glad to be done with this book.
