I Dreamed of Africa
I Dreamed of Africa | Kuki Gallmann
2 posts | 5 read
Often, at the hour of day when the savannah grass is streaked with silver, and pale gold rims the silhouettes of the hills, I drive with my dogs up to the Mukutan, to watch the sun setting behind the lake, and the evening shadows settle over the valleys and plains of the Laikipia plateau. Kuki Gallmanns haunting memoir of bringing up a family in Kenya in the 1970s first with her husband Paulo, and then alone, is part elegaic celebration, part tragedy, and part love letter to the magical spirit of Africa.

Pickpick

This is a great story up to the last few chapters. Those are torture to get through. I‘m going to give it a thumbs up for everything but those chapters. The movie is wonderful though. If you haven‘t seen it, you should.

Who knew I had so many #Orange books on my shelf ??‍♀️?Ok so these are all definitely orange, even though they look kinda red in this pic ☺

My favourite in this group is definitely Tikki of the Gamepark. I got it as a kid, met the author and he signed my copy ?
"I dreamed of Africa" is my least favorite out of these, but that's a whole story and requires a post on its own ?
Homegoing & The Radleys still unread.
Thanks for the tag @Robothugs
