“I am not your missing piece,
I am nobody's piece.
I am my own piece.
And even if I was
somebody's piece
I don't think I'd be yours!“

I really enjoyed this collection of poems. I have read from this book since I was a child and could see this being used in any grade level classroom. The poems are imaginative enough for older students to enjoy reading them and will spark creativity for younger students. The imagery that goes along with the poems help the reader visualize the humor and creativeness of each poem.
This is a black and white classic book of poems by Shel Silverstein. The poems can be silly and extend from reality to create a sense of creativity for the reader. He has a unique blend of humor, imagination, and and heartfelt observations that can captivate and spark a world of creativity for the readers.
“Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.“
Shel Silverstein's 'Where the Sidewalk Ends' is a whimsical collection of poems that tickles the imagination. With its playful language and humorous illustrations, it invites young readers to explore the joy of words and the magic of creative expression. This book is a versatile resource for introducing poetry to children, fostering a love for language, and encouraging creative writing.
Sometimes your brain needs a break, so I got this from the library. My daughter (15) saw it on the table, gasped, and lovingly held it. She looked at me and said, “My childhood!!” I think that‘s all the review a classic like this needs.
“Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.“
This book is an excellent resource for introducing poetry and creative writing to students. It can prompt discussions about the power of imagination and self-expression. I think children of all ages will resonate with this book
Where the Sidewalk Ends is a treasury of whimsical poems and charming illustrations that ignite young imaginations. The poems touch on topics like friendship, adventure, and the joy of silliness. Each verse opens a door to creativity and encourages a love for language and storytelling
“I cannot go to school today.”

- Shel Silverstein was the first poet I ever read as a kid. I credit him with getting so many children interested in poetry. Sick was my favorite poem of his. It always made me laugh. I don‘t have room here to type the poem in its entirety so I kept to the first 2 lines. Anyone else a Shel Silverstein fan as kid?

"If you are a dreamer, come in,
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer...
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin,
Come in!
Come in!"
Kicked off February with this book of adorably weird poems.
Some of them made me giggle out loud while reading them
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
The rhyme and rhythm in this book is fantastic and helps you read with a purpose that really brings out the meaning behind the text.
Poetry. Another vey well known poetry book. I remember reading this book when I was younger and coming back to it know as I am a little older holds even more meaning. These poems are written for children and I think that they can get a lot of meaning from them but its just different coming back to them as an adult.
“For the children, they mark and the children, they know the place where the sidewalk ends”
My favorite book of poetry. Reminds me of my childhood. The poems in it are so well written. Also, they are about many different things.
I love this book and love the poems in it. I could see this being something I incorportate daily in my classroom. I think expxosing kids to this kind of writing it important and a good laugh is important too. One of my favorite musical artisists inspirtation was Shel Silverstein as well, so maybe I help create the next musical sensation!
This is a collection of poems. The poems are not very long, sometimes repetitive, rhythmic and funny. Kids love these poems and a lot of people have them memorized!
I think I'll be taking a break from Silverstein. Maybe it's just not being the target demographic, but as much as my favourite poem was found in one of his books, the majority features an overabundance of nonsense and toilet humour, and it mostly made me tired trying to finish it.

This series was one of my favorites as a kid, and I still own the books today. They are creative, funny, quirky, and some have really cool messages intertwined.
Definitely recommend, especially if you have children or you grew up in the 90's and have not read it yet (I don't know how that could have happened, but I try not to judge)
#ItHadToBeYou 💖 #LovePoem 👩🏻❤️💋👨🏻 This is a very literal interpretation of todays prompt but I love Shel Silverstein

I Must Remember By Shel Silverstein.
I must remember…
Turkey on Thanksgiving,
Pudding on Christmas,
Eggs on Easter,
Chicken on Sunday,
Fish on Friday,
Leftovers, Monday.
But ah, me – I am such a dunce.
I went and ate them all at once.

3) that would be a toss up between “The Velveteen Rabbit” or “Where the Side Walk End” both read to me before I could read myself and have read them a millions times since I learned to read.

3✨ I remember reading this as a kid and loving it. As an adult there are still a lot of funny poems, but man I didn‘t realize how macabre this was. I mean a poem about eating a baby? Yikes…
Thanks for the invite @Eggs

1. I love to read to kiddos, especially the tagged book? "Ickle Me, Pickle me, Tickle me too, went for a ride in a flying shoe"?
2. Sometimes I buy my friends kids books online and and I read them before giving them. Now that the its easier to shop and the library is open I can screen alot more.
4/5 ⭐
Where the Sidewalk Ends is a great collection of funny poems. Some of them even made me laugh.

This P, AS book is one of many poetry books by Shel Silverstein. This book introduces you to many different characters and tales told through stanzas and rhymes. This collection of poems stretches your imagination.
While buying my #Bookcupidswap book and grad school textbook, I had to add a couple other items into the cart for myself. I can‘t resist a good #bookhaul 📚
I remember reading some of these poems as a kid and feeling conflicted and a little disturbed. Turns out I still feel that way! Some of the poems and arts seem rather dark and a little disturbing. On the other hand, he‘s very clever and imaginative and plays with words and rhymes so well. Like a more mature version of Dr Seuss at times. His picture on the back of the book also makes me laugh; it‘s very seductive 🤪
🌟🌟🌟 A generous rating because I am realizing that I still have at least one thing in common with my 14 year old self and that is I'm just not into poetry that isn't by Poe. I hoped these whimsical poems would hit the spot but I only enjoyed a few. Shel's drawing style isn't the cutesy sort of art I prefer, either. This will fill a #summerfun square for genre I usually avoid and a #bookspinbingo free space. @StayCurious @TheAromaofBooks
Where the Sidewalk Ends is a P picture book that is a collection of poems and drawings by Shel Silverstein. These short poems would be great as a SR for pointing out strategies and rhymes in specific poems. This book has won an award as an ALA Notable Book and an Outstanding Book Award. #UCFLAE3414SU20

I will not play at tug o' war.
I'd rather play at hug o' war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.
